My friend Melanie has a way of bringing rugged items into her house–which is otherwise pretty traditional and tailored–for just the right touch of lived-in, well-loved patina. Case in point: She inspired our Melanie Side Chair, a strong, robust piece crafted of plantation grown mahogany and split rattan.

It has many artful touches, just like Melanie, including the lattice back, detailing along the seats apron, and a hand-applied glaze that catches on the rattan and highlights its texture. This side chair is meant to accompany the Melanie Arm Chair, either as an accent piece in a living space or around a dining table.
