An acquaintance of mine, Aaron, is an antiques dealer, and hes forever on the lookout for older, solid wood case goods with a weathered finish. People cant get enough of them, he tells me. The chippier the paint, the better. Such is the demand that authentically old pieces are harder and harder to come by, which is why Aaron was so grateful that I told him about our Weatherby Chest. Made of solid reclaimed pine, its shape is casual but classic, with fluted legs, clipped corners, and rosette drawer pulls. The finish started out with a light coat of gray glaze, then we wire-brushed it to scrape off the paint in all the right places. Its just the right amount of worn, Aaron told me.
