Crafted sometime in the mid-to-late 19th century, this storage canister has an intricate and ornate design and was as commonplace then as Tupperware is today! This particular example is more intricate than what you were likely to see in more modest households. Probably a rare fins that came from the home of an affluent trader or Zamindar (land-owner) this was probably used for everyday storage in the Indian household. Cannisters like these still keep items safe from excessive heat and insects. This one was made with durability in mind, fashioned with details to be enjoyed for many generations. Our favorite detail is the intricate workmanship around theupperhalf of the vessel and the lid. It has quite a distinctive character and charm.
