Valley of Flowers Selection

Tucked deep into the Valley of Flowers National Park (in the Indian state of Uttarakhand) are treasures of alpine flowers and endangered animals. Nothing against the Himalayan maple tree or the snow leopard, but my absolute favorite of them all is the blue Himalayan poppy. A rich true blue in color, it is a rare treasure thats difficult to grow outside of its native land.

Weve replicated it with a deeper hue in our Valley of Flowers bouquet, a clutch of open-faced poppies set in a clear glass vase. These are far less finicky than their Himalayan counterparts, as these are made not by nature but by Chinese fine artists, who cut, dye, stamp, and paint these flowers, stems, and leaves entirely by hand. It will never need sun, water, or a change in temperature.
